The season of chills, cold winds, rain, hot coffees and snug jackets is almost here again- a time when you can relish your favourite foods without worrying about weight gain because that jacket will cover it up, and a time to enjoy the snow with your loved ones! However, the icy winds and sub-zero temperatures can be disastrous for your skin and make it look dry and dull.

So, to make your skin look at its best, here are a few tips you should integrate in your skincare regime this winter-

Drink Water Come winters, and all we want is tea and coffee, the water cooler becomes a distant memory. But, as we all know water is an important product of your grooming regimen. Drinking lots and lots of water will keep your skin hydrated and makes it look healthy and vibrant. Experts say an average man should drink about two litres of water a day.

Exfoliate For those who feel exfoliation is not a thing for winter, you need to think again. Exfoliation is a fundamental skin care routine. It’s not just in the summer months that your skin is oily and accumulates dirt, even winter months can be disastrous for your skin. So, consider exfoliating twice a week.

Moisturise It’s always important to moisturise your skin. And, when cold weather strikes, the dry winds affect your skin making it dry, peel and crack. So, go for a good quality moisturiser that keeps your skin youthful and healthy. “Skin needs to be moisturised daily regardless of weather, but in winter months you may find that your skin has become sensitive, dryer and more dehydrated,” says Sally Penford, a skincare expert.

Apply Sunscreen Sunscreen in winter months- Find it odd? But, you need to wear sunscreen all year round. You may feel the winter sun is not harming you but the UV rays are still hitting you, applying sunscreen daily is important. According to CNN study only 14.3 percent of men confirmed that they regularly use sunscreen. CNN states that the risk of developing melanomas increases with “each additional sunburn and ask to avoid sunburn, no matter your age.”

Lip Balm Everyone desires to have soft, pink lips. But, the icy weather and dry winds can be really painful for your lips causing them dry and cracked. Skincare experts recommend using a lip balm, preferably one with SPF that moisturises your dry lips and also protects them from sun’s UV rays.

So, integrating these essential winter skin care tips will keep your skin healthy and charming!
