It can be very frustrating waking up with a pimple, but what can be more annoying is experiencing acne that you can’t seem to get rid of!

For many of us, a change in diet, a hormonal imbalance, your daily habits or your skin type can cause acne in adolescents and adults. Lauren Rachel from the Boardroom Salon for Men assures us that whatever reason, there is always a way to treat it.

Adult Acne- Know the Cause

According to Rachel, some of the key factors that contribute to adult acne are inherent. This includes things like your skin type and include having sensitive, oily, dry or acne-prone skin. Even simple things like touching your face repeatedly can cause acne.

Washing your hands frequently can help this, as any oils or germs can clog pores and acne. Shaving the wrong way or using incorrect tools can also irritate the skin and cause problems related to acne.

Rachel advises avoiding the multi-blade razor and to use an electric shaver or safety razor with lukewarm water to avoid redness.

Here are a four easy steps to manage acne rightly-

Cleanse

Start each morning and night with a good quality cleanser. However, avoid washing your face with the bar soaps as they strip away the natural oils from skin. Choose a good quality cleanser that will wash away dead skin cells and clear clogged pores. Then, rinse with lukewarm water.

Tone

Use a toner every morning and night after cleansing. It will cleanse the below-the-surface impurities. Saturate a cotton ball with toner and rub it across the face and neck. Let it dry to purify the pores even more deeply.

Moisturise

Moisturising the skin is very important as cleansing on its own may dry out the skin. Moisturising twice a day will keep the skin from getting flaky or thirsty and having dry skin can result in more acne.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is an important step in your skincare routine. It will help remove the dead skin cells, rejuvenating your skin.  You should apply the scrub of your choice onto your wet face keeping in mind that you shouldn’t scrub too hard.

Integrate these steps in your daily skincare regime and get a clear, youthful appearance.
