Everyone has heard of the cliché – drink eight glassfuls of water for good skin. Water helps flush out the toxins in your body and this reflects on your skin. Drinking plenty of water per day is definitely a way to start on the road to healthy skin and healthy life. Drinking water with a lemon squeezed into it refreshes you and works best for your skin.

2) Eat Healthy:

The kind of diet you take directly impacts the health of your skin. Everyone is fond of indulging in fried or fatty foods, chocolates and candies, etc. but are unaware of the dangers these things pose for their skin. It is not wrong to indulge in these things once in a while, but it is important to maintain a healthy diet. Pay close attention to what you eat and how it affects your skin.

3) Regular Exfoliation is a Must:

Exfoliating the skin on a regular basis helps rid it off the overlaying layer of dead skin and at the same time helps it breathe. Use products that are gentle and yet effective. Massage gently and do not scrub too much otherwise your face will develop rashes. Rinse your face with warm water and wipe it with a warm washcloth.

4) Keep the Skin Moisturized:

Dry and flaky skin can cause irritation and be irksome. It can easily crack and feels rough to touch. A mild moisturiser should be used frequently. If your skin is extra dry, then the moisturiser usage should be increased. Oil based moisturisers should be used for dry skin and water based moisturisers should be used for oily skin. Keep a small bottle of moisturiser handy and apply it as and when needed during the day. Make sure that your face is clean before you apply or re-apply the moisturiser.

5) Never Give Sunscreen a Miss:

The benefits of sunscreen cannot be reiterated enough. Sunscreen is the most important component of the skin-care regime. It should never be skipped when going out during the day. It protects the skin against the harmful rays of the sun and prevents several diseases including skin cancer. If the sunscreen irritates the skin, it can be mixed with a small amount of moisturiser.
