Hair Care for Men

Though men won’t admit, they hate a bad hair day just as much as women do. For many of us, hair care is a daunting task and not having enough time to style hair is the most common excuse. A good hair care routine is one that’s simple and effective. Having the right tools and knowing your hair type is your first step to hair care routine.

Here are 5 easy tips that will help you avoid bad hair days and have healthy, great-looking hair-

Match your Shampoo to Your Hair Type
Most men believe that all shampoos and conditioners are created alike, but it’s not true. Pick products that work well with your hair type. If possible, go for sulfate-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner; these ingredients are hard on hair and cause it to look dry and dull over time. If you have dry or frizzy hair, look for moisturising or hydrating products, and for oily hair, pick clarifying products that contain chamomile and tea tree oil.
Wash your Hair Twice or Thrice a Week
While many of us think it’s healthy to wash hair daily, but actually that’s not good for all. Washing your hair too often will strip away the natural protective oils resulting in frizzy and frayed hair. For most men, two to three shampoos a week works best.
Consider Warm or Cool Water, Instead of Hot
Though hot showers are great and liked by all, but they aren’t good for hair. The heat of the water can wreak havoc on your hair and scalp. So, it’s better to use warm or cool water to wash your hair.
Get a Haircut
Trimming is the best way to get rid of damaged hair. Also, getting a haircut regularly will eliminate the split ends. Some of us get it trimmed once a month, while once every three months is sufficient for others. Find your routine and keep up with it. Even if you are growing your hair out, you should make sure that you get it trimmed every six weeks.
Eat Right & Exercise
Eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways to nourish your hair. Make sure your diet is well-balanced that nourishes hair from inside out. Hair is largely protein so including protein products such as meat, egg, fish and dairy products is important. Also, exercising regularly will increase the blood flow thus delivering all those nutrients to your scalp- where healthy hair starts.
