Tired of getting nicked every time you shave your legs? Generally, shaving with an electric shaver is a much safer way to tackle hairy growth on your legs, but the occasional cut has been known to happen. Besides marring the look of your smooth, freshly shaved limbs, nicks also hurt. Here are some quick tips to help you achieve a blood free shave.
Clean your shaver
Start with clean shaving blades to get a closer cut. We recommend Shaver Guard – Created in Australia with the highest quality cosmetic ingredients, Shaver Guard blasts away all of the unwanted hair left hanging around after a shave. Its anti-bacterial properties then work hard to break down stubborn skin oils or left over pre-shave products, to leave your shaver completely clean & fresh every time you shave.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation sloughs off dead and dry skin that could clog your razor. Remember to give yourself a good scrub because a smooth surface means a smooth shave. But be gentle as you don’t want to irritate your skin.
Shave after shower
Shaving after showering makes your skin and hair that much softer resulting in an easier, nick-less shave. Make sure to soak in some warm water for at least 10 minutes before you start shaving.
Use Shaving oil
Before you shave, apply some skin oil to your legs. You don’t need much, but you want enough to create a barrier between your skin and the razor. The oil makes it easier for your razor to slide smoothly because it moisturises your legs. You’ll also be less likely to suffer from any painful razor burn.
We recommend Face Guard which carefully cleanses your skin & softens the facial hair to prepare it for shaving. It then creates a barrier, lubricating your skin & protecting it to allow closer contact from the shaver, while active ingredients work to penetrate & moisturise, leaving your skin feeling ultra smooth.
Technique
Press the shaver gently against your leg and make sure all the heads touch your leg together which will give you a closer shave. Using a gentle touch let the shaver glide along your skin. If you use too much pressure, you’ll flatten the hair, which will give you an uneven, stubbly shave. It will also make the blades dull quicker.
Take it slow
Take your time shaving to avoid nicks; even if you are in a hurry, it’s worth taking extra care to get a clean shave without any injury. Use long, slow strokes from your ankle up toward your knee and don’t make any quick, sudden movements with your wrist. That leads to cuts!
