(1) Getting rid of excess hair: To start with, you may want to trim away any unwanted hair on the face as that will help you get through the process more easily. However, you may have to wait a little before you get to this step if you have been clean shaven all this while. So wait till you have sufficient hair growth on your upper lip before you set out to give it your desired shape. Once you have that in place, begin cutting hairs closer to your skin while controlling the urge to get carried away in the process. After you’ve finished, spread out a layer of a nice pre shave oil to soften the hairs.
The next step is to apply shaving cream on your face and make it into a rich lather. Once done, use a quality shaving brush that will lift and coat the individual hairs on your face and make for a smoother and closer shave. Post that, remove excess hair with a sharp edged razor. Try using short strokes and avoid going against the direction of your hair growth. Leave the hair resting above your upper lip for shaping it into your desired moustache.
(2) Shaping your moustache: No matter which moustache style you choose, a well-groomed moustache is what’s going to retain the essence of the final look. Splash some fresh water on the face and distribute it evenly by combing the hair on your upper lip in a downward motion. Use a pair of scissors and trim the hair parallel to the ends of the hair till the time you achieve your desired hair length. Hairs tend to appear somewhat shorter when dry, so keep that in mind when you are trimming them across and try to leave a little more spare length.
(3) Styling your moustache: To sport longer moustache styles, you could probably use a nice gel or moustache styling lotion to keep the hair in shape. Apply the product between your fingertips and spread outwards and upwards for best results. However, if your moustache style is a short ‘n’ crisp one, use only a little so as to hold and then comb through the length.
Hope you find these tips and tricks helpful as these will not only help you get the look you want but also help you avoid any unwanted mistakes in the process that could spoil the look.
