Should exfoliation made an important part of your skincare regimen? Will it benefit your skin?
For many of us, it is difficult to make out whether to exfoliate or not? How will it benefit the skin? Does it remove the dead cells?
First of all, let’s understand what is exfoliation?
It is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of skin, leaving your skin fresh and youthful. Exfoliating your face will reduce the risk of clogged pores, acne and other problems.
While it’s important for men with oily skin to use an exfoliator, the men with dry skin should exfoliate regularly as it will remove the dead layer of the skin. However, if you have very sensitive skin, it is important to consult a dermatologist.
Here’s why you should exfoliate regularly-
Remove dead skin cells
The new skin cells continue to produce on your face and eventually, it dies at the surface. But, the dead skin cells on the surface can give you a flaky appearance and make the face dirty and uneven. Scrubs ensure that any loose dead skin is washed away.
Uproot ingrown hair
Scrubs dig deeper than cleansers and remove dead skin cells, they are more likely to uproot pesky ingrown hair. Once the dead skin is sloughed away and hair follicles are cleared, ingrown hair can be guided to the light.
Flawless skin
Exfoliation will help control the build-up of sebum (a naturally occurring oil in skin which causes clogged pores), dirt & grime and therefore help to control spots and blemishes that appear. Exfoliating your face regularly gives you a clear, flawless and healthy skin.
Boost ageing complexions
Human skin is good at repairing itself and regenerates after every 30 days. However, this process slows down once you start ageing. Exfoliation will help in skin rejuvenation, thereby boosting ageing complexions and giving your skin a youthful appearance.
Over time, skin collects excess dirt, oil and dead cells that a facial cleanser cannot remove. But, exfoliation can remove the excess dirt and grime of the skin while penetrating deep into the pores by way of some form of grit.
But, now arises the question- should I exfoliate daily? Over scrubbing will strip away the natural oils and dry out your skin making it more prone to breakouts and acne. It is best to scrub your face twice in a week.
So, exfoliate twice or thrice a week for youthful, glowing skin.
